Time to get yours!
Everyone was complaining not 1 year ago about how the fat cats on Wall Street were getting their bail out... and the Ordinary Joe's on main street weren't getting anything. Well now we've satisfied those money hungry pigs by feeding them troughs of taxpayer dollars, and now it's time we got ours! In the form of a public option! How come public opinion shifted so dramatically! When we were giving money to the financial sector (Totally necessary, since the bailout supposedly prevented a full blown depression) that was O.K... people weren't crazy about it. Now we talk about using the same amount for the American people, and a small minority of people explode! Well shizzles, if the government wants to give me $800 billion in reform that will save lives, improve livelihoods, and prevent health care disasters, then fuck it! Let's do it! This reform is for MY generation and its time for us get ours!

New room arrangement!
I'm so excited! I'm telling everybody! I moved my 2-section couch right in front of my desk, and I made it so I can just use my computer from the couch! It's the epitome of laziness, and I kinda feel like i'm just sinking into my couch half the time. Lol it'll be awesome once I get my wireless keyboard and mouse in the mail. But until then, I've been watching movies and all sortsa crazy stuff on my computer... from my couch! Woo! It's fun, you should join me!

Rally for Health Care Reform!
I want universal health care under a single payer system. I want to cut away the concept of health insurance from the more noble cause of health care. People should never be afraid of going to see their doctor, and the doctor should never feel pressured to prescribe a pill over preventative medicine (like exercise). And no one should make money at the expense of someone else's health. ( I say expense; that is different from a health care professional who makes money at the benefit of someone's health.)That is an activity that is unacceptable under any set of moral codes. When will we, those who believe as I do, feel the need to march on Washington and make our voices heard? Why don't you let me know when you're ready...

Chinese web addicts!
Check out this news article on Chinese web addicts
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8344002.stm
They estimate 10% of the internet using population is ADDICTED to the internet (Defined as using the internet for more than 6 hours per day and showing little interest in school). I'm pretty sure those kids aren't addicted to the internet so much as they're addicted to online gaming. Maybe if the Chinese government supported free speech and the free flow of information on the internet, these kids would learn to be more socially responsible by studying their role in government and politics on the internet!
Then they wouldn't have to beat kids to death for playing too many games. Right now they're enjoying all the negative aspects of internet (like creating bums who just play games) without any of the positive (the free flow of information and culture)

Health Insurance
I haven't blogged in a while, but this health insurance thing has got me all riled up! I may not completely understand the complexities of getting healthy, but why did getting medical help become so complicated? So all this controversy over the public option is kind of retarded.
So let me put out my facts. Health insurance and health care are different things. Take a look at health care's wiki page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care
See all the nice little pictures of doctors, x-rays, and surgery? That's health care, the system that actually provides services to those in need.
Then take a look at health insurance's wiki page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_insurance
It doesn't show any pictures, but what it really should show is a bunch of people in cubicles making phone calls and a couple guys on the top floor laughing their asses off as people live and die at their convenience. I don't go to an office building to get medical care, I go to a hospital! A government plan doesn't mean that health care will be taken over, it means that health insurance will be provided in an ethical manner by the government. I think that would be a vast improvement, if it stops the health insurance companies' unethical practice of cutting off people's health care right when they need it most.

Mr. Lonely
This is the pain that it is like to work, huh? Carry on weak, superficial relationships with people you barely know, can't get close to, don't want to get close to. And you come home... and there's nothing. There's no one.
...
Sorry, I had to take a while to think about the emptiness. I didn't think it would take that long. How come it's okay to have a group of 6 friends in a room with 20 strangers and drink, but its not okay to have a group of 6 friends in a room and drink? (5min elapsed) I am too lonely. What's wrong with me! HENRY'S RIGHT! (I'm talking to him this very moment.) I will do something great this summer. I will first! check into fostering a dog.
Then I will build something! if the fostering doesnt go through. I can even take the dog with me shopping and.... okay scratch that. I already went through this: I can't take care of the dog while I'm at work... ... ...... damnit!
Looks like I will have to draft some plans. meh

Work...
Work is too tiring.
There's no energy to do anything afterward. I don't know how I can manage to engage in any kind of activity: judo, hanging out with friends, and even getting eggy is tiring. All I can do is sleep...
Whatever...

Accidental Biography
I was filling out a job application for the SLC (Student Learning Center) and I got all caught up in the "Teaching experiences" section! I ended up accidentally writing this biography
My experience starts during the finals season of Spring 2008: two friends of mine were studying Physics 8A and I had already finished my finals. They needed help so I tutored them for two hours on the chalk board. That was when I discovered I might be a pretty good a tutor.
In the summer of 2008, I posted myself as a private tutor on Craigslist. I tutored a few individuals here at Berkeley in Physics 8A again and Math 1A. I also tutored a young boy at his private residence in engineering concepts (He was a bit of a genius). My Math 1A tutee was a regular, and I worked with him about once a week.
For the Fall of 2008, I decided to find more stable job, so I found work at Mathasium in Oakland where I acted as lead instructor for a room full of kids (Grades K-12, primarily in the Grades 1-8 region), and I stayed there for a semester. It is there that I learned that controlling children and teaching are not the same, so I left at the end of the year.
Just thought I'd leave this in here as a memory for my later life

Finals Spr 2009
Ah yeah.. last set of finals till 2010! No fall semester babyyy!!! But yeah, shit, the last couple of days were craaazy! My EE final was on Friday, so I had to study double hard on that because I totally lost the knowledge of circuits. Then today I had TWO back-to-back finals. Heat transfer I studied hard for, but controls was way too hard! That test seriously could have been a take home test and I would not have been able to do it.
But its OVERR!!! I'm so glad, since it's my last set of finals for this year. Now I start work and studying all my crazy ideas. I had a whole bunch during finals but I couldn't do any research on them because finals were keeping me occupied. You know, I can't even remember the last set of finals. It's like I'm always surprised by how much time has flown by. Always living in the moment, not dwelling on the past. Maybe I've finally been able to achieve that goal for my life.
MUCH MORE TO COME! I have to go eat dinner now. Steves. yum. excessive meat.
[Continued on 4/19/09 12:21 AM]
whoo boy, steves is pretty good. So I'm getting a pretty good idea of what life after school is like. I'm just going to come home... fry up some eggs... and chillax. Sounds like a plan, man.

Pakistan
...
The Pakistani Military is starting to fight back against the Taliban. They're already using jets to bomb suspected Taliban military targets. All the while, hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing the area. Additionally, there are thousands MORE who want to leave, but can't...
"We want to leave the city, but we cannot go out because of the fighting," said one resident, Hidayat Ullah. "We will be killed, our children will be killed, our women will be killed and these Taliban will escape."
The Taliban are reportedly keeping tens of thousands of people trapped in one small city, probably to use them as human shields, as protection from the army...
Is this waking anyone up?

My thoughts on Pakistan, Taliban, War, and Religion
This one won't be about legalizing marijuana. This is just about the problem that Pakistan faces with a whole chunk of their country being taken over by the Taliban. The Swat Valley of Pakistan is just a giant training ground for Taliban militants and a place with ZERO freedom. Streets are empty, police are no where to be found...
That's the facts... but here's what I think. The Taliban is an organization that spreads terror and promotes violence. But I cannot believe that Taliban represents the whole of the Muslim religion. I'm sure most of the people in Pakistan are scared shitless by the Taliban but can't say anything because their throats would be slit/ their families killed. I don't understand why more people aren't talking about this, and how dangerous it is for the Taliban to be gaining power in an unstable country with NUCLEAR WEAPONS. Why aren't we doing more to help the Pakistanis deal with this problem? Secretary of State Clinton (She hands the foreign affairs right?) should be striking deals with India to make sure Pakistan knows their Indian border is safe, so they can focus on the Taliban problem.
Another thing, diplomacy just isn't going to work this time. The people in power in the Taliban, yes they may be using ideology and religion to gain power, but that's not what they're about. They're ALL ABOUT THE POWER! From learning about marijuana, I've discovered (From some guy on a forum, thanks, but the quote is likely from someone else) that
"you can't convince someone whose job depends on not being convinced."
Well while that might apply to the bureaucracy over at the DEA, it fits just as well with the clerics and warlords of the Taliban. Killing WORKS for them. They get power and money and if you just told them "drop your weapons, we'll give you whatever you want" they're not going to do it. That's why we need force. You have to crush opposition if you want your way of thinking to prosper. That's what we're doing, isn't it? That's what we had to do in WW1 and WW2! People were acting crazy, and we had to go over there and shut them up! That's what war is for... and when it's for a good cause, war is totally legitimate. So don't think that War is NOT an option. War is always an option, but diplomacy should definitely come first. But when diplomacy fails, you better have your fists cocked and ready to fight, cuz one side's not just going to step down.
Thinking about this spiritually, religion seems to be a very EASY way to get people to do what you want. It's just remarkably easy how well people will just follow you around if you preach some gospel. (Watch the MSNBC documentary on Rev. Jim Jones and the People's Temple) back in the 11th century, Christianity went on all these psycho crusades to freaking liberate the holy land. Wtf was up with that? You wanna march your troops all the way across Europe to fight against some people you don't even know because they have a different ideology than you? That's stupid! But that's exactly what Muslim nations are thinking about now. We're lucky, we figured it out. But keep in mind that Islam is a young religion (It only started in the 7th century) so Christianity is 700 years ahead in development of philosophy and canon, so it's totally understandable that they're going through this whole militancy stage. We only figured out later that fighting a war for your religion is stupid. So uh. I guess what I'm saying is don't hate the Taliban for doing what they do. Just know that we should stop them.

DANGERS!
When was the last time you wanted REALLY good steak? You go to like, a nice high class restaurant right? Dress up, look good, get your date ready, and go out for a steak! You don't have to dive into the criminal underworld where people get arrested or get shot just to get a good steak, you just go to the restaurant and order it. You don't have to deal with the mafia that raises cows or shady dealers who might try to rip you on lower quality beef. There are markets and you buy it and you pay money for it to a respectable company that pays taxes!
So why isn't there this free market around marijuana? Why can't an average Joe go out and look for the highest quality product for the lowest price? If you put aside all that moral/health values based bullshit surrounding marijuana and just think about capitalism, why aren't we taking advantage of this HUGE market? Why are people paying anywhere from 40-400 bucks for PLANT MATERIAL! Outrageous. SIMPLY OUTRAGEOUS! There's money to be had! Marijuana should be legalized

From the Mechanical Point of View: Fume Hoods
I was thinking about FUME HOODS walking back from class today because my friend Jina is interviewing for some fume hood inspection position over at UCSF. (Fume hoods: the thing you put chemicals in so you don't die from the fumes) I think it's pretty interesting! Fume hoods deal with the fumes of some pretty dangerous stuff. You totally do NOT want to be smelling the stuff that chem/bio majors deal with, right? right?! (Conlo, danny?) So you gotta get that shit out of there otherwise you'll pass out/lab will explode.
So what I thought up! (Figured I'd put all these ideas down in case I ever find myself needing to think about fume hoods while in industry) My thought process:
Air has density (depending on pressure, temperature) and viscosity. Moving air requires moving a mass over a distance = work. Work gives power requirement of fan.
Fume hood is basically the beginning of a large duct. Going to have no-slip conditions (air doesn't move RIGHT at the interface of air/wall... the air right on the surface of the fume hood will not be moving. try washing your car with just water, no scrubbing). No-slip condition creates a boundary layer (A small film of air along the sides that isn't moving quite as fast as all the air in the center of the duct). Should the chemicals get trapped inside this boundary layer, they would stay in the fume hood!
Need laminar flow, that way we know where the fumes are heading (in turbulent flow, we have no idea where the fumes are going, and chemicals could be deposited on everything! dangerous) Need a certain rate of mass transfer to maintain safe operating levels (Don't want to suck out the fumes too slowly... choke!)
If the fume hood door is fully shut, the fume hood can't operate unless it has some other inlet for air. If the fume hood door is somewhere between open and closed, or it is being changed during operation, this causes changes in streamlines inside the fume hood. Another boundary layer on the edge of the fume hood door, possibly causing turbulence/vortices inside the hood, creating chemical deposition?
Need a control system that takes into account minimum operating levels for safety? And then from how this control system works on, i have no idea. Gosh. That's a toughy. Fume hoods are pretty complex.

Side-Story
On another note, I've been thinking about a lot of things. I seem to have a knack for heat transfer, and I'm probably going to bank my future career as a Mech E. on it. I could probably turn my textbook into an analytical solutions manual for any problem I ever encounter, but then that might make me rely on my textbook too much. Then I thought about it, don't most scholarly people have libraries? I have no need for all this heat transfer information jumbling around in my head. I might as well carefully tab it out in this book. But that means I'll have to buy several copies of the book, to create back ups. The book is my livelihood and if I lose it, I can't just start from scratch lol

THE SEARCH FOR THE GUT FEELING
**THE SEARCH FOR THE GUT FEELING**
By Alvin Chen
Introduction -
Let me take this short time to philosophize about life. Over the past couple years, I feel like I've grown a lot, experiencing lots of things. And now it's time to pull it all together. Every couple of months, maybe every couple of weeks, I want to take time and make sense of all of my experiences. Every day is different, and I'm always changing, so I want to develop a Grand Unified Theory of LIFE! (Not the GUT of physics, whose name I will deliberately steal for my own selfish purposes) This way I can trust my GUT when I come across challenges and decisions, without having to worry about consequences or risks. Of course, I'm still just started running around my track of life. Right now I see life from the College POV, as a guy who has done just a little bit of martial arts, engineering, and partying, but also as a guy who appreciates the little things.
What is the GUT feeling meant to be? In my opinion, the best philosophy is the one grounded in science. Science is the study of nature. Maybe philosophy is also the study of nature: human nature, ethics, culture, and a whole mess of other things. Even though I am exploring an abstract topic, I cannot ignore my scientific nature. Just maybe, if I can understand how morality, emotions, and ambitions affect the human experience, along with environmental factors, I can really begin to see why I'm here on this planet, and what I was meant to do.
So you're thinking, "What you were meant to do? Well that sounds crazy!" My life has been so ridiculously lucky that I can't ignore that there is some kind of overarching power in this universe. While I'm not acknowledging the existence of a god, I do believe that life has patterns and truths, which I will attempt to put down in this blog (continuously rehashed over time)
THE GRAND UNIFIED THEORY
1. Life is broken into periods and cycles
I give credit for this line of thinking to my dad. He told me this a couple of years ago, when I was just a freshman, still unknowing and reckless. His view is that in adult life, people work through stages. Education, career, family. The relationships with your wife, children, and friends all have a certain time period to grow, always happening around the same time for most people. I'm in my education phase, here at school, learning everything I can. But education cannot be limited to just school.
Postulate #1
Don't let school get in the way of your education -- Professor Gronsky
So this is why I begin my search for my GUT feeling now. Let's take a look at the periods and cycles I can make sense of by drawing together ideas from psychology and my experiences.
**The Environment**
Take today for example: Hot... Hot... Hot... but windy. That's very different than yesterday, which was just Hot Hot HOTT!! Before that? It was windy and cold, and before that it was just plain cold. Rainy too! These two periods of Cold and Hot separated only by the winds of change. It's true! The winds do mean change: Wind is generated when a high pressure system meets a low pressure system, and the systems have their own unique traits. Without going too much into how this happens (Because that would require me to read a couple pages of Wikipedia and explain them there), let's just draw that there are constantly periods of hot and cold on our planet, constantly cycling between the extremes! So, cycles in nature - plausible.
**The Mind**
--Something about how the mind reacts to the environment. To be written later--
2. Life and the theory (Conclusion)
Of course, Life is in the application, not the theory. I have come to realize that NOTHING is as good as it could be or as it should be. That is where engineers and civil servants find their places in life. Take theory and make it applicable, because if we don't dumb it down, nothing good will ever come of it. For example, I want to clean water for the rest of my life. Yes, everyone should have access to clean water. Water should be free of all pathogens, heavy metals, and other risks, but not yet. Crystal clear water, perfect, tasty, but not yet. Nothing happens in a day, nothing happens in a month. Nothing happens in a year or a decade.
Whole lifetimes can be spent on projects, and generations of great people must work in sequence to bring about significant change. Some of the great things to be accomplished on this planet will be above the individual, greater than the ambitions of one man. This is why it is so important to be organized in your work and work in stages. This way, when you pass on, you have left behind the groundwork for something much more important than yourself...

Dude!
I just got this very shady email! From "Sheila P. Caguiat"
Hi All,
Today's mail will be distributed after lunch.
Thank you,

Animoes
Take a look at this video below! It's about two guys who raised a lion cub, and the lion still remembers them years after being reintroduced to the wild!
I wonder, have humans always had these kinds of meaningful relationships with animals? Can any animal build this kind of bond with something of a different species? We should capitalize on this! Maybe we can teach animals that humans are here to help and we'd have a much easier time taking care of them! It'd be tight if we someday taught dogs and cats how to work space ship instrument panels, and then we could make a noah's ark of sorts to different planets. TIIIIIGGHHHTTTT
What if we built an animal training school, so we could teach animals to do smart things! Like in this video...
Smart Animals - The funniest videos are a click away
P.S. - The government prohibiting marijuana is like a father trying to keep guys away from his slutty-ass daughter. He can spend his whole life protecting her, but she's gonna get some dick somehow or another.

The hardest question to answer
Writing is a pretty important thing, huh? Without it, we wouldn't be able to present our ideas to anyone without being there to gesticulate wildly. People would just read a paper and be confused and go like. WUHHH??? So I'm going to try and improve my writing skills over the course of my life (Or at least until I lose interest or I feel I've reached an adequate level of writing) so that people can get what I'm saying without me funking it up.
Today, I began the first draft of the most important letter of my life: the letter to my dad, suggesting that smoking marijuana is the safest thing he can do in his later years. Obviously, his first question is going to be the hardest to answer. Why am I suggesting this? But the follow up questions, like pros and cons, will be easier to answer. I believe the evidence supporting marijuana use for the elderly is irrefutable: it prevents Alzheimer's disease better than any medicine on the market. The active ingredients of marijuana also present a new way to prevent cancer. There's also a whole shizzleload of things that marijuana treats that you can take a look at here (There is a reason why people have been smoking marijuana since the dawn of time). My dad has complained for some time about losing focus and not being able to enjoy the things he likes anymore. I hope that I will be able to write a convincing enough letter so that he might try new things in this last leg of his life.

Hey! I'm pissed, want to know why?
Because marijuana is illegal. It's not the dark ages anymore; it's not like the government doesn't know ANYTHING about marijuana. I know marijuana can't kill you. A dude can smoke however much he wants and just fall asleep. And that's not even something that can be said about water... People in a bunch of states across the nation are taking marijuana for medical reasons. Hippies have been smoking for decades, and they're still around. So why is marijuana illegal?
Is it because it alters your state of mind? But how is that any different than coffee or beer? Cigarettes? All those things have drugs in them, and they can really change you! But can you imagine the government coming in and saying you're not allowed to experience what coffee is like? - that's what really bothers me.
I really like drinking coffee: it perks me up, keeps me alert, and I just enjoy the feeling. But if I drink too much of it, I'll get addicted... and that definitely is not cheap or enjoyable. The government isn't really protecting me from getting addicted to caffeine. And I don't really need them to. I've got my own self control, maybe I moderate myself a little. So I can take care of myself.
I don't think the government should tell me not to use something that's safe, at least safe compared to the crazy prescription medicines people take everyday. And that's all I'm trying to say. Thank you for reading my rant.

And the universe rebounds!
Yep, the universe has finally figured out that I noticed that it wasn't giving me bad luck (Purposely confusing statement). I didn't get accepted to the research exchange in Germany. Now my only hope is summer internships at the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District.
I seem to be falling into this TARRRRRRIBLE Pre-Spring Break lull. I don't want to do ANYTHING. I didn't even want to do homework, which was due on Monday (I only did 1/3 problems, lol). I have two homework sets due this Friday and a lab on Thursday, but I do not see how I can bring myself to do those. NOT in the mood! I WANT TO GO HOME AND HAVE FUN WITH FRIENDS! whyYyYYyYyYy must there still be school
But at least I don't have finals, suckas

The 2 steps to being a super chill guy
1. Chill
2. Payce!
Naaahhhhhhh!!!!!! Just kidding.
You know, today I thought of a really cool religion. I'd call it.. the Church of the earth. Earth would be purposely left lower case; I think uppercase Earth is for the planet while earth is for the ground. So the Church of the earth!
Let's go over the ground rules.
There's no text! There's no rules or anything!
Basically, what you study is the world. All the time other religions spend reading the bible, you will learn about your surroundings. Be it physical science, social science, geography, history, anything. And then Sundays would be meetings where you chat about what you learned through out the week. - The use of incense would be optional...
Haha!
So Wednesday was Jackie's Birthday! Happy birthday!! On the topic of happy occasions, do you ever feel like the universe is too kind to you? If good things and bad things should happen at a relatively equal rate, it seems like the universe is giving me a pretty good deal. On Monday I was not feeling well at all and I went to review session, but when I got there, they postponed the review session! This morning I ditched class and forgot about office hours. Then I check my email at 11:30 (OH is from 11-12) and OH was rescheduled to 330-430...
I MUST CONSTANTLY BE READY FOR THE WORST

Good news and bad news
I'm finally stepping towards my goal of being a sanitation/environmental engineer! I've decided to do my research paper on water filtration in 3rd world countries, and if I can make it good enough, there's a chance it'll be published! That's my foot in the door for environmental engineering since I have no background in it whatsoever!
So that's good news for all you friends! (AND BAD NEWS FOR ALL YOU HATERS!) But yeah! I'm working towards my goals at a time! Did I mention that I really want the bill A.B. 390 to pass? It's a new bill being introduced to the California State Assembly to tax and regulate marijuana like alcohol? It'll free up almost 2 billion in law enforcement costs and make up to 1 billion dollars in taxes for California!
You can show your support by filling out this automated emailer-outer that emails your local state legislator!

Things I've noticed (or imagined)
You know, there aren't many perfect strangers that you just inherently trust, if you're not already that type of person. But there is one person I really trust, and its Obama! Why? I don't know. I just watch the TV and he comes on there and he tells me that we're going to cut the deficit in half. And I'm like.. YEAH! Cut that deficit!
Also, if we pull back all the soldiers from Iraq, what jobs are they going to find here? The easiest one they can do would probably be police officer, since they already have such good physical training and discipline. But then America will have a lot of poor people and a lot of police officers! Poor people + police officers = CRAZY POLICE STATE! dangerous? WATCH OUT! No, I'm sure we're safe from that, but damn! We sure have read a lot of books that tell us otherwise!

Gosh! the incurable illness!
How long have I been sick for?! like 2-3 weeks?! Its seriously cutting back my energy level and activities. I can't even concentrate on work anymore.
It's partially due to my own stupidity, thinking I'm superman when I'm not. I shouldn't be getting eggy or running around in the rain.
It suddenly hit me a couple days ago. It being something like UNCERTAINTY! Because I am uncertain, I cannot give it a name. So it shall be IT! But I am uncertain about my future. Does it ever dawn upon you that you don't really know how to do anything? I feel so weak and I don't want to do any of my work. I also committed to not being eggy on weekdays anymore, so I'm very sad.
I went to a career fair today and I saw all these electrical engineering companies there. It really depressed me because I'm just not interested in this Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) stuff. Neither am I very interested in heat transfer or other tedious subjects. I saw a table that was run by the "Contra Costa County Sanitation District" and they had positions for summer interns and Co-ops. If I don't get into a German research exchange *fingers crossed*, I will do that.
Is it sad that I would [rather] be a sanitation engineer doing the work of yesterday than a MEMS engineering working on the frontier sciences? I want to help the world by making it a better place, and I think the best place to start is in the dumps. But it's such a dirty subject... What do you think? Would you be happy to have a friend that's... a SELF-PROCLAIMED SEWAGE MAN?!

Maybe wonder?
What does the future look like? What does your perfect existence, what we should be doing in 2050, seem like? Is racism gone? Are national borders gone? Will there always be hundreds of languages? Or will we be united under one language? In what sense is being different good? And how far should we go to protect our differences?
I ask too many questions. I really need to cut back. But I always watched science fiction, and in the future, none of those problems exist anymore. What happened to them? What SHOULD happen to them? Ahh More questions. damn!

RANDOM STUFF! Which is what i'm known for
I'm kind of proud of Barack Obama's energy plan. I want to be able to tell my children "Yeah, the first time I voted was for the president who changed America to Clean power. That's why there are all those windmills taking care of us now! I was here when we made America BETTER!"
I dropped Chinese because my feedback and control systems is TOO OUT OF YOUR ASS CRAZY INSANE!

OH THE QUESTIONS
So.. are any readers of my blog.... LAW buffs? Because I want to know... Is it legal for your employer to know if you have a medical marijuana prescription? I have heard over and over that "it goes on your record, dude. You better watch out". But now that i've stepped back and thought about it... isn't your medical record confidential? The what's that doctor patient confidentiality thing that we always see used dramatically on TV? I know that if I'm depressed, and I'm prescribed a antidepressant, my employer should never know anything about that. So what about medical marijuana?! Is this rumor just fear tactics to prevent regular joe's from getting it?

My role model
You know, I think President Obama might be the greatest role model of them all. But what I'm trying to find out is if he's actually that way, or if he's purposely trying to reaffirm American values. He cares about the environment, puts his family first, believes in equality for all (He just signed that bill that mandates that women be paid the same as men). How awesome! That was my little bit of man love

Yowza!
The title is deceiving, I'll tell you right now. I don't want to lie to anyone, making you think this is going to be an interesting post. Because it's not!! I swear!
Anyway. Jackie and Meltang came over today for dinner! WOO! I cooked Chinese New Year dinner, just a day late. I was frantically running around, doing stuff for classes, mailing my envelopes to Germany (See paragraph 3!), and shopping for Chinese New Year food. Cooking was fun! I don't want to get much into it, but it was hectic.
Man, can you believe mailing envelopes to Germany costs 6 dollars?! and mailing with express service is 24 dollars?! I had 4 envelopes to mail and they wanted me to mail it for 24 dollars a piece! That's 100 bucks to apply to research.. I might as well apply to college again!

Okay! I promise to use this more!
I was wondering today what kind of cultural impact amazon.com has had on American society. Every time I watch some kind of movie set in the near future, there seems to be a lot of buying things electronically. Example: The Sixth Day with Arnold Schwarzenegger - he buys milk and food with a computer built into his refrigerator. So I went over to Google and typed in (Impact of amazon.com on American Society). All the search results are Amazon.com: Impact of ______ on American Society! Buy this book now!
Is this ironic? Anyway, I want to post in this more. I want to both provide an outlet for my rants so I don't explode it on people every time I see them. I'm sure you guys don't like that. I also want to become a better writer for myself and for my engineering writing class. Thanks for reading!
