Accidental Biography

I was filling out a job application for the SLC (Student Learning Center) and I got all caught up in the "Teaching experiences" section! I ended up accidentally writing this biography

My experience starts during the finals season of Spring 2008: two friends of mine were studying Physics 8A and I had already finished my finals. They needed help so I tutored them for two hours on the chalk board. That was when I discovered I might be a pretty good a tutor.
In the summer of 2008, I posted myself as a private tutor on Craigslist. I tutored a few individuals here at Berkeley in Physics 8A again and Math 1A. I also tutored a young boy at his private residence in engineering concepts (He was a bit of a genius). My Math 1A tutee was a regular, and I worked with him about once a week.
For the Fall of 2008, I decided to find more stable job, so I found work at Mathasium in Oakland where I acted as lead instructor for a room full of kids (Grades K-12, primarily in the Grades 1-8 region), and I stayed there for a semester. It is there that I learned that controlling children and teaching are not the same, so I left at the end of the year.

Just thought I'd leave this in here as a memory for my later life

Finals Spr 2009

Ah yeah.. last set of finals till 2010! No fall semester babyyy!!! But yeah, shit, the last couple of days were craaazy! My EE final was on Friday, so I had to study double hard on that because I totally lost the knowledge of circuits. Then today I had TWO back-to-back finals. Heat transfer I studied hard for, but controls was way too hard! That test seriously could have been a take home test and I would not have been able to do it.

But its OVERR!!! I'm so glad, since it's my last set of finals for this year. Now I start work and studying all my crazy ideas. I had a whole bunch during finals but I couldn't do any research on them because finals were keeping me occupied. You know, I can't even remember the last set of finals. It's like I'm always surprised by how much time has flown by. Always living in the moment, not dwelling on the past. Maybe I've finally been able to achieve that goal for my life.

MUCH MORE TO COME! I have to go eat dinner now. Steves. yum. excessive meat.

[Continued on 4/19/09 12:21 AM]

whoo boy, steves is pretty good. So I'm getting a pretty good idea of what life after school is like. I'm just going to come home... fry up some eggs... and chillax. Sounds like a plan, man.

Pakistan

...

The Pakistani Military is starting to fight back against the Taliban. They're already using jets to bomb suspected Taliban military targets. All the while, hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing the area. Additionally, there are thousands MORE who want to leave, but can't...

"We want to leave the city, but we cannot go out because of the fighting," said one resident, Hidayat Ullah. "We will be killed, our children will be killed, our women will be killed and these Taliban will escape."

The Taliban are reportedly keeping tens of thousands of people trapped in one small city, probably to use them as human shields, as protection from the army...

Is this waking anyone up?

My thoughts on Pakistan, Taliban, War, and Religion

This one won't be about legalizing marijuana. This is just about the problem that Pakistan faces with a whole chunk of their country being taken over by the Taliban. The Swat Valley of Pakistan is just a giant training ground for Taliban militants and a place with ZERO freedom. Streets are empty, police are no where to be found...

That's the facts... but here's what I think. The Taliban is an organization that spreads terror and promotes violence. But I cannot believe that Taliban represents the whole of the Muslim religion. I'm sure most of the people in Pakistan are scared shitless by the Taliban but can't say anything because their throats would be slit/ their families killed. I don't understand why more people aren't talking about this, and how dangerous it is for the Taliban to be gaining power in an unstable country with NUCLEAR WEAPONS. Why aren't we doing more to help the Pakistanis deal with this problem? Secretary of State Clinton (She hands the foreign affairs right?) should be striking deals with India to make sure Pakistan knows their Indian border is safe, so they can focus on the Taliban problem.

Another thing, diplomacy just isn't going to work this time. The people in power in the Taliban, yes they may be using ideology and religion to gain power, but that's not what they're about. They're ALL ABOUT THE POWER! From learning about marijuana, I've discovered (From some guy on a forum, thanks, but the quote is likely from someone else) that

"you can't convince someone whose job depends on not being convinced."

Well while that might apply to the bureaucracy over at the DEA, it fits just as well with the clerics and warlords of the Taliban. Killing WORKS for them. They get power and money and if you just told them "drop your weapons, we'll give you whatever you want" they're not going to do it. That's why we need force. You have to crush opposition if you want your way of thinking to prosper. That's what we're doing, isn't it? That's what we had to do in WW1 and WW2! People were acting crazy, and we had to go over there and shut them up! That's what war is for... and when it's for a good cause, war is totally legitimate. So don't think that War is NOT an option. War is always an option, but diplomacy should definitely come first. But when diplomacy fails, you better have your fists cocked and ready to fight, cuz one side's not just going to step down.

Thinking about this spiritually, religion seems to be a very EASY way to get people to do what you want. It's just remarkably easy how well people will just follow you around if you preach some gospel. (Watch the MSNBC documentary on Rev. Jim Jones and the People's Temple) back in the 11th century, Christianity went on all these psycho crusades to freaking liberate the holy land. Wtf was up with that? You wanna march your troops all the way across Europe to fight against some people you don't even know because they have a different ideology than you? That's stupid! But that's exactly what Muslim nations are thinking about now. We're lucky, we figured it out. But keep in mind that Islam is a young religion (It only started in the 7th century) so Christianity is 700 years ahead in development of philosophy and canon, so it's totally understandable that they're going through this whole militancy stage. We only figured out later that fighting a war for your religion is stupid. So uh. I guess what I'm saying is don't hate the Taliban for doing what they do. Just know that we should stop them.

DANGERS!

When was the last time you wanted REALLY good steak? You go to like, a nice high class restaurant right? Dress up, look good, get your date ready, and go out for a steak! You don't have to dive into the criminal underworld where people get arrested or get shot just to get a good steak, you just go to the restaurant and order it. You don't have to deal with the mafia that raises cows or shady dealers who might try to rip you on lower quality beef. There are markets and you buy it and you pay money for it to a respectable company that pays taxes!

So why isn't there this free market around marijuana? Why can't an average Joe go out and look for the highest quality product for the lowest price? If you put aside all that moral/health values based bullshit surrounding marijuana and just think about capitalism, why aren't we taking advantage of this HUGE market? Why are people paying anywhere from 40-400 bucks for PLANT MATERIAL! Outrageous. SIMPLY OUTRAGEOUS! There's money to be had! Marijuana should be legalized
